This article will guide you how to print documents and pictures from cell phones.

Printing services through mobile phones have seen some practical innovations. Yet, there are a number of mobile printing solutions that enable you to print various files including documents and images from your mobile phones. The apps that can be used, depend primarily upon the OS platform your phone operates on.

There are different ways by which you can transfer photos and documents to your computer to print from a printer, or even transfer directly to the printer without the use of a computer. For doing so, you require printers such as the HP Officejet printers that come with an in-printer USB port letting you print directly from your phone. For the phones with memory cards, documents and images from the memory card can be transferred to the printers such as HP Officejet and HP Photosmart using the in-printer memory card slot.

The advancements in printer technology have given rise to printers such as HP ePrint that let you email documents and photos to the printer and print directly. The feature is enabled in almost all HP Photosmart All-in-One printers. Smartphones and any devices with email capabilities can make use of this feature in HP ePrint. For iPhone users, exclusive software called Apple AirPrint can be used to send photos to an HP ePrint printer and print from it.

Alternatively, HP has launched HP iPrint App to print photos and documents from your smartphones to a wireless HP printer. By having it, you do not require the use of a printer with HP ePrint feature. The iPrint photo software is exclusively for printing photos and can connect to any local wireless printer. The app only supports the use of iPhones and iPads.

Similarly, Epson also features Epson Connect Solutions to print your documents, pictures emails or even web pages from your phones and offers four solutions to print from your phone. Epson Email Print enables you to print photos, documents or web files by sending an email to an Epson Email Print-enabled printer. All you require is the email assigned to this printer and send the required files to this email for printing directly from the printer.

Similarly, Epson iPrint app lets iPhone users to print documents and files through wireless Epson printers. Epson also offers other mobile printing solutions such as Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print. Apple AirPrint is the same software that you use to print from HP e-Print printers. This is ideal for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users. Using Google Cloud Print, you can print documents and pictures using your Google docs or Gmail account.

Android and iphones can make use of an app like PrintShare, for printing documents and photos. The app has a few cons as

  • Printing directly to a wireless printer is not possible, unless you upgrade to the premium version
  • A computer with access to the printer must be available.
  • The printed pages will have a watermark, unless you upgrade to the premium version of the software.

Dropbox, a cloud computing service, is another option that lets you print documents and images from your phone through a computer and printer. For doing so, you need to have Dropbox installed on your computer with a folder “Print” created in your Dropbox folder. Though dropbox appears as a folder, it is a feature that saves your files in the cloud.

Most smart phones support emailing your documents and photos directly to your Dropbox folder using an option mail-to-Dropbox, without having to send an mail to your email address and downloading the file for printing. Sending it directly to your dropbox print folder will let you print the photos and documents easily.

Hi this is really interesting article thanx
I use Print app for my android to print direct to my airprint printer and my friend has it on his iphone as well. I also use altamail for my emails on my ipad so far we haven’t had any issues with either apps and seems to work well.
