Contradictorily cell phones now also start to grow again, in order to fit those huge touch screens comfortably. Though I agree the medium is not the message, I think we should keep in mind that the medium diversifies and therefores anables different kinds of messages. Moreover the cell phone is not just about messaging or strict communication anymore. It comes to integrate many more separate devices. A new medium might just increase creativity and efficiency of our communication, thus give way to more types of messages. They can be just as crappy, but the crappiness will probably not increase contrary to the possibilities.

Recently I had to replace my mobile phone (got somehow wet in my bag) for a couple of days with my old one. It was an immemorial Nokia, the first one I got back in 1997, I think. A friend asked me kiddingly if I had by any chance a licence for that "weapon" in my hands...

Cell Phone industry has really changed faster then it was projected. At my work we have an old verizon back pack phone in display. Its just amazing how the cell phone sizes shrunk in 10 yrs.

I keep the house the entire collection of mobile phone since appeared in the sale of the first mobile phone that I got for my eighteenth birthday. I often change mobile phones but I do not sell and do not give them, and for this reason I have a lot of them.
