Pacebutler CEO Tom Pace Runs Across Oklahoma

Today’s the day! At noon today in Blackwell, Oklahoma, Tom Pace, CEO of Pacebutler Corporation will begin his 236-mile run across the entire length of Oklahoma — from the Oklahoma/ Kansas border all the way down to the Oklahoma/ Texas line. Tom is running to help bring focus and promote reading and literacy, exercise, and mentoring.

Tom founded Pacebutler Corporation in 1987 initially as a computer recycling company. Since 2002, we have been at the forefront of the cell phone recycling and refurbishing industry. The company buys used cell phones from individuals and organizations and resells or recycles these phones — preventing approximately 70,000 cell phones a year from being landfilled and giving sellers the fair market value for their old cell phones.

Tom is also the author of the bestselling book ‘Mentor: The Kid and the CEO,’ an inspirational book about hope and redemption and the immeasurable value of having a mentor who really cares in one’s life.

Mentoring has led Tom to discover another passion in his life — running. “That’s why I run,” said Pace. “I think running is a great place to mentor. I’ve run at Lake Hefner for years, and I always encourage anyone and everyone to come out and run with me. For those who want it, I will mentor them. I have a lot of life experiences that I can share. Some want it, some don’t. I just want the ones that do want it to know that I am available and willing to help.”

He is a strong believer in reading as an instrument to change one’s life or turn things around. He’s an avid reader today at 54 after successfully overcoming his own reading difficulties due to dyslexia and attention deficit disorder at age 26.

“Reading is a passion and I hope to bring more awareness during this run and give away a few books at the same time,” says Tom.

It is this passion for reading that has led him to start the Pacebutler Book Program which aims to give away one educational book for every cell phone sold to Pacebutler. To date, the company have already donated over 350,000 books to organizations throughout the U.S through this program. If you manage an organization or institution and you feel that your members can benefit from these books, please contact Pacebutler today to request for books.

Along the route, Tom plans to make stops to talk to people and give away 5,000 copies of one of his favorite books, ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ by Pastor Rick Warren.

“I would love to schedule a time to speak to companies, schools or even some of the local chambers while passing through,” said Tom. Please see contact information below to send a request for Tom to speak at your company, school, or community.
